Has anyone used their self check-in thing?
Why isn't there a "back" button. On any screen. Ever.
I just got back from Canada. Being a student here my check in process takes a while (putting in address in US, my visa, blah blah). My flight today was at 7 am. Meaning I had to wake up at crazy hour in the morning. I wasn't and my sharpest when I was checking in.
What made me wonder about this interface is that you get the summary screen, after each task, yet you have no way of editing it before you submit the information. I did make a mistake. Not wise, not twice.
The only option I was given was to "exit" and start over. START OVER!!!
I almost missed the fight.

A huge "change"
My friend sent me a link to a new website that is supposed to be really cool.
www.designcanchange.com
I tried all the browsers on my mac.
And the site just shots the browser down,
Could anyone try it and tell me what the heck this is about?

Retrivr for Flickr - new way of searching for images
http://labs.systemone.at/retrievr
Wanted:

This is the pic I have used for a while as my buddy pic. I found her on Flickr and "borrowed" the pic.
I love it, I want to keep on using it. I believe in consistency :)
Let's assume that my computer gets stolen.
Let's assume that in this not-so-good situation, I only worry about finding my little girl with a big red heart so I can continue to use it as my buddy pic.
Marta's goal:
FIND THE GIRL
Doing it the old-fashion way.
I go to fickr.com.
I search for a "girl heart". Total images found : 11,367.
I do not get the picture I am looking for with the first 5 pages.
I search for a "girl red heart". Total images found: 1,223.
Still no luck finding what I am looking for.
Now let's use the Retrivr.
This is the initial screen:

Left top corner is my canvas.
Left bottom corner is the toolbox.
The results of my drawing will be displayed on the empty white space on the left.
Step one: draw black hair
Step two: draw dot for the face
Step three: draw big red dot where the heart is
Step four: draw a blue line where the girl's outfit was
As I draw the results are being updated every few seconds.
After all the steps here are my results:

Goal achieved: FOUND!

Give me what I want, give me BACK what I need.
Chase ATM. The thief that stole 3 of my cards.
I cannot understand how the company so big, so advanced still allows for the "robbery" to happen.
Let's see.
My goal when approaching the ATM - to get the money. Right?
The flow of the transaction at the CHASE ATM: (it is a trimmed version, I got rid of all the "what account do you want to use?", "Quick withdrawal" kind of things)
1. Put your card in the slot (allow the ATM to swallow it whole).
2. Put your pin in.
3. Accept it
4. Choose the amount.
5. Decide whether you would like the receipt
6. Accept
7. PICK UP THE CASH
....
So, by now I am happy. I have my money. I leave.
You would think they would try to stop me, by having the ATM beep at me loudly "Wait, you forgot your card!!!".
Guess what? ATM doesn't care. It quietly presents the question : "would you like to do another transaction?".
Quietly...
No, I don't want another transaction! You gave me the cash!
So as I leave, I can't hear it. As I leave, the card peacefully rest in the ATM's belly, unaware that it will not make it back into my wallet. Never again.
End of story.
Should the Chase ATM "responsibler" meet with the e.g. Citibank one?
Citi lets you swipe.
WM lets you swipe.
Pretty much everywhere you go, they let you swipe.
So why not Chase? Why?
